The NEW Curriculum
The NEW School offers a truly well-rounded and balanced curriculum. Holding firm to the belief that what makes us truly unique is not only high academic strive but the belief that educating the whole child is essential to education. Time spent outdoors, teachings on health and wellness, education on Emotional Intelligence, and a focus on high academia set the NEW School apart. The curriculum is enhanced by the monthly Real World Experiences which are a unique component of the curriculum as they allow the children to get out in the world and prepare them to be global citizens and leaders. We also host monthly workshops where children learn different hands-on skills and essential life lessons to enrich their learning. The bedrock of our pedagogy is rooted in the fruits of the Holy Spirit and our curriculum guides students to grow and contribute through an extraordinary educational experience.

New Earth Wonders
At The NEW School a balanced amount of time is spent learning, playing, exploring, and exercising the imagination. Our school teaches emotional intelligence as it recognizes that success is not derived from those with the highest IQ (Intelligence quotient) but rather from those with high EQs (emotional quotient).
Situated on the lush green Humber River with direct access to forest, trails, and wildlife, The New School aims to be free of environmental pollution as much as possible; we emphasize organic, natural & unprocessed foods, low radiation (as much as possible) and we are largely free of exposure to chemicals. Our students spend time learning real-life skills and arts of the past as a way to nurture the soul and connect with purpose.
Our monthly Real-World Experiences and hands-on workshops with specialists are a unique component of the curriculum as they allow the children to get out in the world and prepare them to be global citizens and leaders, forming youth who can lead themselves. Our young creators are given pathways to financial literacy and entrepreneurship from the very beginning of their NEW journey.
Grace and Faith are strengthened through our curriculum which emanates our core values; rooted in Christian works. Our students are led to grow and contribute through an outstanding educational experience.

The Social Outreach Program
The Social Outreach Program (SOP) is designed to help our students identify needs within the community and explore ways they can actively contribute to serving. The overarching goal of this program is to engage our youth in making a difference for the betterment of their community, to gain perspective and to ultimately find purposeful acts of service. In this way we can help mould a future generation with a strong moral compass; youth who can lead with heart and who have a real understanding of the world around them.
Becoming an IB school
The New School is excited to announce it will be applying to become an IB certified school-International Baccalaureate, specifically with the intention to gain IB certifications for the Middle Years Program (grades 6-10).
The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
An IB education provides opportunities to develop both disciplinary and interdisciplinary understandings that meet rigorous standards set by institutions of higher learning around the world. IB programmes offer curriculum frameworks and courses that are broad and balanced, conceptual and connected.
The IB enables students to direct their own learning pathway and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive and make a lasting difference. It empowers teachers as the architects of learning excellence, working alongside engaged colleagues in a rewarding career supported by a strong global network and it brings schools a strong reputation for successful outcomes that uplift the whole community.

We do have policies in place- Please view our standard policies and procedures in our registration form, which you can download here.
For Our Gender + Race Policy
We Do Not Support Critical Race Theory OR Gender Fluidity.
Instead of teaching students what to think, we teach them how to think.
As our world continues to shift rapidly, we have now found ourselves in a time of more controlled messaging from the media and unprecedented censorship in Canada. The repeated messaging from the media shapes cultural norms and the way we view social and cultural issues. Rather than jump on board with the mass media’s storyline, we challenge our students to question, research, analyze and consider issues from multiple perspectives before coming to their own conclusions.
For this reason, as a school, we do not promote or teach Critical Race Theory, Gender Fluidity, or the mainstream narrative surrounding Covid, all hot topics that many schools are now choosing to teach as factual rather than as the theories they are.

Our students start their day with intentional movement – by connecting to their bodies. Depending on their age group they may start the first half hour of the day with Physical Education, Yoga/ Breathwork and/or Pilates
Students have 2 focused learning blocks of 75 minutes during the day which they learn to tackle the subjects of math, science, art, nature exploration, history, social studies & literacy. Our senior students also have financial literacy/business classes.
The lunch hour of the day is a communal time when the entire school is in a shared space, eating, connecting, and conversing. Our students set up and tidy up for shared meals. Our midday hour also includes a half-hour French lesson and a half-hour reading buddy session where an older child is paired with a younger student to read.
Our students have 2 main outdoor blocks a day (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon) that are at minimum 75-minute periods. It’s not uncommon for our classes to be taken outdoors far beyond their allocated outdoor blocks, when we find out students and teachers fishing, playing sports in the outdoor complex backing our school, or forest bathing!

We saturate our curriculum with many real-world experiences and monthly excursions which allow our children to become adaptable, agile, and familiar with the world around them. Some of our latest experiences have been: robotics and coding workshop, horseback riding, visiting working farms, apple picking, zoo visits, visits to libraries, museum visits, attending ballet and orchestra performances, and so many others.
