NEW Student Life

The NEW School offers a truly well-rounded and balanced curriculum. Holding firm the belief that what makes us truly unique is not only high academic strive but the belief that educating the whole child is essential to education. Time spent outdoors, teachings on health and wellness, education on Emotional Intelligence, and a focus on high academia set the NEW School apart.

Hands-On Learning

Our students are exposed to experts and specialists in different fields once a month where they participate in workshops that bring real-world skills to the school.
Some of our past monthly workshops have included:

Soap Making, making Calendula salve balms, growing microgreens, pickling vegetables, gardening, making essential oils,  herbal medicine workshop, workshops on emotional intelligence and conflict resolution, workshop on how water systems work, woodworking (making planter boxes), Charter of Rights in service, and so much more- our students have a richly diverse experiential learning curriculum exposing them directly to tradesmen and experts in different fields.

Small Group Classes

Our small group classes of 8-12 students per class allow for focused, individualized learning; meeting the child where they are at. Helping to develop their academic and socio-emotional skills. Our teachers form heart connections with our students in loving and authentic ways, so naturally we have happy children who thrive. Hugs are common in our school as are supportive and spontaneous acts of care like our teachers showing up to support our students in their extra-curricular activities! We are often referred to as more of a “big family” and we are revered as “the happiest school in the G.T.A.”!

NEW Experiences

From Cooking Experiences, monthly Socials, Teen Nights, fishing, tennis lessons, soccer games, skating excursions, and more, our student life is rich in social experiences.
Our monthly  Real world field trip experiences guide our students to have a saturation of colourful and diverse adventures to enrich their learning. We believe in immersing our students in as many experiences as possible to prepare them to operate and be adaptable in the world. NEW Experiences are a distinct part of our curriculum which have included: visiting working farms, zoo trips, orchestra, and ballet performances, visiting artists in studios, museum visits, library visits, Historical Toronto Site Tours, horseback riding excursions, and more.

The NEW School experienced the Shen Yun performance on April 5th, 2023 and were featured in the Epoch Times. Here’s what our founder said about the performance, Shen Yun Reminds People ‘There’s a Renaissance Coming After All This Destruction’

Angela Sena, founder and creative director of the “The New Earth Wonder School,” was uplifted by what she saw at Shen Yun Performing Arts.

“The scenes were colorful, lively, full of life,” said Mrs. Sena after watching Shen Yun
at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on April 5.

“[It’s] a beautiful piece of art,” she said.

“It was a beautiful message to give us hope and inspiration. It reminds people that there’s a renaissance coming after all this destruction.”

According to the company’s website, the presented heroes in the dance stories embody the most exalted virtues of Chinese civilization and convey morals still relevant today.

Mrs. Sena said her 7-year-old son attended the performance and was “captivated the entire time.”

She was happy schoolchildren were watching Shen Yun and that the traditional values conveyed throughout the performance were “what’s being programmed into their brains.”
